Between Memory and Decision

There was a season when I did not need to choose.
Love simply existed.

He was there in the middle of ordinary days.
In conversations that lingered.
In silence that did not feel empty.

He wasn’t trying to convince me.
He wasn’t asking for proof.
He was simply… present.

And somehow, that was enough for me to call him
the man whom I love.

Love Without Names

We didn’t define what we were.
We didn’t draw lines or set terms.

We shared time.
We shared stories.
We shared moments that felt too gentle to interrogate.

But love without a name
still asks something of the heart.

And mine began to wonder
if being loved was the same as being chosen.

When the Heart Starts to Ask

I noticed the pauses first.
The spaces where certainty should have lived.

He cared, yes.
But care can be careful.
And love, when it is true, is brave.

I loved him in a way that leaned forward.
He loved me in a way that stayed where it was.

Neither was wrong.
But they were not the same.

Loving Without Holding

I didn’t fall out of love.
I grew clearer inside it.

I loved him without demanding more than he could give.
I loved him without forcing a future he hadn’t named.

And in that clarity, I learned something quietly powerful:

Love can be real
and still not be the place you stay.

The Gentle Truth

He was not the man I used to love.
Nor was he the man I would choose to love.

He was the man I loved
in between.

The one who taught me
that affection is not ownership,
that presence is not promise,
and that my heart deserves to be met fully.

Where Love Leaves You

I carry him without bitterness.
Without regret.

Only with gratitude
for the version of myself I was
when loving him was enough.

Because loving him showed me
what my heart could do
and what it should no longer settle for.

And that, too,
is a kind of love worth honouring.

The Man Whom I Love is part of a three-part fictional series, following The Man I Used to Love and leading to The Man I Choose to Love.
