I am a writer.

Feelings should not be hard to put into words.

But some emotions refuse language.

Some thoughts cannot be translated into letters, sentences, or paragraphs. They exist beyond grammar. Beyond explanation. You do not explain them. You feel them.

There are moments when even I — someone who lives through words — cannot find the right ones.

That is when colors overtake.

Instead of searching for the perfect sentence, my hands begin to move.
Instead of arranging symbols, I follow strokes.
Instead of forming paragraphs, I release color.

Art becomes the language my emotions choose when words fall short.

Sometimes a feeling is too layered to describe. Too fragile. Too raw. To explain it to another person would require too much clarification, too much editing, too much softening.

But paint does not ask for permission.
Color does not hesitate.
It spills truth without translation.

When Colors Overtake | Jonah Chipeco Original Art

It is rare, and when found, is indeed considered a gift when someone understands you as the artist more than the piece.

When Colors Overtake is my surrender to that process — the quiet admission that not everything needs to be verbal to be real.

And the beautiful thing about art is this:

Once released, it no longer belongs only to me.

Some will see calm where I felt chaos.
Some will see hope where I felt longing.
Some will interpret it through their own memories, their own season, their own wounds or victories.

And that is the point.

Art speaks differently to every soul.
It does not demand agreement.
It invites experience.

When colors overtake, they do not replace my identity as a writer.
They complete it.

Because sometimes the most honest sentence
is a stroke of paint.
