The lady was about to leave—
her heels barely touching the ground,
as if she was already halfway gone.
“I’m off to the unknown road,” she said,
not with fear,
but with fire.
She glowed—
radiant in a strange and beautiful way.
A light that flickered between subtle blue and golden yellow,
like twilight deciding whether to rest or rise.
Her final glance struck me.
Not in a romantic way,
but in a way that made my soul pause.
She wasn’t the damsel I once imagined I’d rescue.
No—
she became the heroine I admired from a distance.
The kind you don’t run after…
unless you grow wings, too.
Inspired by a photo taken by my friend Ken Acosta.
A friend once said the woman in the photo (Jinri Park) reminded them of me—and that sparked this imagined story.
