Two chairs.
Two figures cut from silence.
Light enters one window softly.
The other waits in shadow.
They do not touch.
They do not speak.
Yet something lingers
between canvas and air —
a thread
stretched across distance,
pulled by memory.
We have all sat in rooms
with someone who was not there.
And still,
we felt them.
